Illegal digital downloads: It could happen to you

I just thought I'd share this article that Aimee L Salter posted on her blog:Seeking the Write Life. It's a sad reality. One of those things we hope won't happen to us and then they...do, could, might.
Here's the link, I hope it doesn't happen to you.

Seeking the Write Life: Enemy #1 to a Successful Publishing Career

  1. Thanks for sharing that link. I know people do it all the time with music, but didn't even know it was possible to do this with books. Quite a sobering thing to think about. My publisher has so far done nothing with the e-rights, but you can imagine that I'm breathing a sigh of relief.

  2. I did know about this "book download" frenzy. the last I heard about it was from an author I love KATE DOUGLAS. It is just a shame and I think publishers should help a little with the crack down.

  3. It was also the first time I heard of this. It's really disappointing.

  4. I've had one of my short stories show up on a couple of illegal download sites--it seems it's almost a right of passage.

I nominated you for a blogger award. You can view it here: . MJA Ware Blogger Awards. Be sure to pass it along!

  11. Yeah, G, I've actually heard about this too. I looked up on one of these illegal downloading websites and found a whole collection of one author's work. Morgan Hawke. I don't know if that rings a bell or not, but she's not that famous, but she had all 10 of her books on that website. It's really scary thinking that this could happen to a fellow writer thanks to the invention of e-books.

And my teacher (you know the one I hate, that I have to write a senior thesis for? Ugh.) said that we should try to publish our book on as an e-book!! :O No author should have their babies stolen!
