Okay, I know I said I'll post the cover next week, but I just couldn't wait. I'm one of those people who are terrible when it comes to keeping secrets. Not that this cover is a secret (more like, I was too nervous to show it. It's my first cover, after all).
So, here's my baby, a few days early. I would really love to know what you think before I release it to the rest of the world. I'm pretty happy with it as it is. If I make any changes, they will be very tiny.
Take a deep breath (that's me, not you). Now it's over to you. What do you think. By the way, Tangi's Teardrops is a YA fantasy novel, in case you're wondering. I'll post a blurb soon.
Right, I'm off to hide now.
Beautiful! I love the depth and the contrasting color schemes from the top to the bottom of the cover. The little bit of red in the bottom makes it pop and the butterflies are a nice subtle touch.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
I'm impressed! I have no idea how cover design works, but I already know I could never do it this well. It's elegant and gorgeous. But where are Tangi's tears? Could you add a teardrop so the title fits a bit better?
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Liz. Wish I were even half that talented at cover design. What software did you use, if you don't mind me asking?
ReplyDelete@Norris, Thanks a lot for dropping by and the compliments. The top photo was coloured but I thought it gave more contrast in sepia. The bottom photo was too light so I burned the edges and made the colors pop.
ReplyDelete@Lindsey, Thanks so much for dropping by and for you lovely words. I've been battling with whether or not to add tears but you convinced me. If you look at the picture, I added a small magic tear in the inner corner of her eye. I didn't want to overdo it.
@Norris, thank you so much for the compliment. No I don't mind. I use Photoshop for my designs.
It really takes my breath away!It is gorgeous. First of all, I love the colors. I love the combination of the photographs. The woman is mysterious and beautiful. The place is inviting. Congratulations, Liz! You know what you are doing. Wow!
ReplyDeleteOh, Julia, your comment brought tears to my eyes. I guess I didn't have to be nervous, did I? Thanks so for dropping by to give me your two cents.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The image at the bottom is pretty and the girl's eye is a striking image. Sometimes it seems that book covers look very alike - yours stands out ans is memorable which I imagine is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteLiz, I was honest about it and I did not exaggerate at all. I think you are very talented. Don't worry if you did not like my story, though. I know you are more interested in romance. If you want to write to me e-mail me: juliahones@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous

I think your cover art is awesome. You are obviously really talented. One comment? I think your name should be larger. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks great to me. Just the letters of the title could be a bit larger...

This looks seriously awesome! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWow, Liz! This cover is gorgeous - one of the best covers I've seen in a while! I like how the bottom half looks like a painting. If you designed and put this cover together by yourself, and you ever decide that you're done with writing, I think you have a future in designing book covers. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks also for stopping by my blog! It's great to see you!
Very nice, I'd purchase a book based on that cover if the story interested me. Very professional looking. I wish you every success with the book.
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys. You're all so sweet for dropping by and taking the time to let me know what you think. Hugs
