I now design covers: My sample ebook covers

For a while now my husband and a few friends have been encouraging me to start designing book covers for other people.
I'm starting to really warm to the idea. Next to writing, my next passion is fiddling around in Photoshop, designing all kinds of things. I just celebrated my birthday yesterday and before my next birthday, I'd like to try something new.

Anyway, last week I designed a few sample covers that people can look at to see if I'm the right cover artist for them.
I want to take it slow. So, at the moment I'm looking for a few people (maybe 6) who want me to design an ebook cover for them for $35 (images are purchased separately by the author). After that, if I continue designing covers, the price would go up. I'll probably consider doing print covers as well.

If you want to be one of my first clients, send me an email at Liz_davis1@yahoo.com. I'll pick the authors randomly.

I'll only design covers I think I can be passionate about (I want to create the best possible product) so please send along a book description. For now I'm looking for romance, women's fiction, YA and thriller. I might consider other genres if the stories sound interesting.

I'd really appreciate it if you tell your friends.

Here are some samples for you (click to enlarge). What do you think?
All the elements on the above cover were created by me in Photoshop.

Nice selection of covers, I notice some are photographs - are they copywrite free?

  7. Wow, these covers are pretty good! I love the first non-graphic book cover (where the character is looking through her car mirror) and the font face of the last two books. They look super professional. :) I don't design book covers and I'm terrible with Photoshop, but I'd love to fiddle around with some of that in the future and use my own photos for book cover images.

On a completely different note, I'm hosting an awesome blogfest and critique giveaway at my blog from June 22-24 that you should totally come participate in if you're interested! :) Hope you have a great day.
